Hi,friends
I have heard of both win4lin and vmmare can run windows applicatin on linux box.Can it run MTS/COM+ on linux?

Any suggestions are appreciated!

zallen,

vmware can run any windows application because what it does is create a virtual machine (hence the name) on your linux box. You create a directory for windows and when you set up vmware you tell it the name of the directory to use for windows. When you run vmware it will run windows 95/98/NT in a window like an application where you can run, install, remove or do anything you would in windows. See for more complete information.

The software required `Windows 95 or better', so I installed Linux.

Thanks for your quick response! but i worried about its performance .

Regards! I want to migrate to Canada or Australia. Any relative information you supplied will be appreciated!

There are two different approaches to this problem:

1. enable a windows compatibility layer in Linux, so windows apps can actually run directly in Linux. Wine ( does this, as I think a few others

2. Boot a virtual Windows complete operating system inside the main Linux OS, using VMWare, Win4linux, or Plex86 (
The first option is is more memory-sparing, but it is rarely completely compatible with Windows, and some apps may not run. The second method uses a lot of RAM, but has fewer compatibility problems.
