Run Time Parameters?

For non technical users ... Is there a way to input run time parameters via a simple prompt (eg enter selection criteria for report such as a part number) into a report when it is opened? (and then refresh automatically giving results).
If not is there 3rd party software that can do this?

It's built into Crystal.

Insert->Field Object-Right click parameters and select New

Enter the name

Choose string for the type (assuming that the part number is a string). If you want to allow for multiple choices, select Allow multiple values.

Now open the Report->Edit Selection Formula->Record and place something like:

{table.part} = {?MyPartNumberParameter}

The report will now prompt and filter accordingly.
