Hi

Having a run time error 429 when trying to log into an application that uses a SQL Server DB (SQL 2008)

Been told to uninstall and re-install the app, tried 3 times (even on a clean VM Win 7) still get same problem.

Any hints on how to trace what is causing the RunTime 429 error

An OCX or DLL file is either missing or requires registering. Is there a .DEP file associated with the app? This might list the dependencies if you are lucky.

could be just a permission issue, in that the installed application does not have the correct permissions and thus is not allowed to create the needed objects...

I would suggest, uninstall the application one more time...

then install the application with elevated rights (or with UAC turned off - though this does pose a security issue), if it is still throwing that error, then I would agree that something else is the problem...

Have you tried right-clicking on the shortcut to the program, or the .exe, and selecting the "Run As Administrator" option? Do so even if your user is an Admin.

Try right-clicking on the actual Setup.exe and selecting the "Run As Administrator" option? Do so even if your user is an Admin.
