We run Microsoft Access 2000 on three client PC's, all connected to a server running Windows Server 2000, where our databases are located. Two of the clients use Windows '98, the third uses Windows 2000. Part of our work involves using Visual Basic modules behind Access forms to look up values in tables in a second database that are linked to the main one. Problem: when the client running Windows 2000 attempts to run such code, an invalid path error occurrs (error 3044), but the problem does not occur on either of the Windows '98 machines running the identical application and executing the same code. We have not changed the location of any of the databases, but did recently run the repair/compact utility on the database containing the linked tables that the module tries to read.

Any idea on why this error occurrs selectively? Any ideas for a fix?

Seems like a network share permission issue.

Hope This Helps, PH.

How does one edit or adjust network share permissions? Are the procedures different for different versions of Windows? (e.g. Windows '98 versus Windows 2000)
