Run-time error '2471 object doesn't contain Automation

I have a DLookup function that filters a product id number and returns a value, but I keep getting the run-time error message'2471:
the object doesnt contain the Automation object:(the value returned by the filter)
I hope this makes sense.
Any ideas?
