Run-on Heading in Word 2010

I am trying to create run-on headings in Word 2010 starting with Heading 3 and all lesser headings. The format would be something like.:

5.3.1. Heading3 Title. This is the body text

I've got everything set up through the style menu except the ability to have the body text on the same line as the heading. Also, when I do the TOC, I only want 'Heading3 Title' to appear, not the body text on the same line as the heading.

I am going nuts trying to figure this out. I'm trying to comply with an ANSI standard for a paper being written.

Thanks in advance for any tips!

I should clarify I know how to do the style separator trick (CTL-ALT-ENTER on the heading), but I want something that automatically formats as I am working a large document.

Hi LRSmith,

There is no more automated way in Word than using Style Separators.

Hi, you can try using the Alt + Shift + O (letter "O") to mark the entries after selecting the text. You can see those entries, once marked, by using the Show/Hide tool. In the Table of Contents dialog box, click the Options button and make sure to check the Table Entry Fields box at the bottom of the window before generating.

But make sure you turn off the Show/Hide tool before generating the TOC so that the page numbers are correct.

Hope this helps,

Thanks all for the inputs - I do appreciate it
