How can i make the SSIS program run on a timer, say 3 times a day. I can't find this anywhere.

Please help.

You'll have to schedule it as a job with 3 different schedules, one for each time of the day you want it to run.

When you test the package outside of BIDS (right-click, Run Package) it'll come up with a Execute Package popup (after a long wait if your server is as slow as mine is). Go through the details on the left side to make sure everything is set the way you want it to be, then check the last item on the left titled "Command Line". You should be able to copy the text on the right hand side into your Job Step.

Mind you, I have NOT tested this (I'm still in the middle of package debugging, so haven't hit the job scheduling portion yet). You will want to test this extensively to make sure it works the way I think it will. Please let us know whether or not this method works.

Hope it helps.

I got it to work...i used the SQL Server Agent and scheduled it as a job. This job runs every 8 hours (3 times a day). it should work fine.
