Hi Guys,

Just got home and booted up my PC and both my Firewall's are telling me that a 'run.exe' is trying to access the web??? I have blocked it, but how do I go about removing it? I've sourced its location from MSCONFIG - but I get 'access denied,' because the file is in use maybe?

I'm using Zone Alarm and Norton IS2004 on XP Pro.

Thanks in advance,

SW.

ctrl alt del and stop the run.exe process, go to hkeylocalmachine/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/run and check there....startup folder....autoexe.bat

Besides getting rid of run.exe, I would be investigating how it came to be on your system.

The file modified attribute of the file may give you a clue.

Running two firewalls can cause each to interfere with the other and is not recommended.

Excellent! I'm sorted. Thank you both very much! I ended the process, deleted the file, and removed the Registry Key with Norton OneButtonCheckup.
Thanks.

SW.
