Is there a way to configure an exe to run as a service?

I've seen it done when it's added to the registry, but I've not done it. Is there a specialist in the registry out there? Good luck.

in the advanced properties of the shortcut to the .exe you can specify to runas a different user

After I added the service I am getting a an Error 1053. It takes that:

"The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion"

Does anyone know what causes this to happen, and if you do, how can it be fixed.

Thanks

Depends on the app you're running as a service. It may not like running in the context of the local system, or it may require interaction with the desktop.

I have tried letting it interact with the desktop and I have used an admin account to run the service. When I look at the properties of the exe that I am trying to run after I try to start the service it says that is was just accessed seconds ago. So I know that it is trying to do something, but it just keeps timing out.

If your application is 16-bit (for WfW or DOS) you cannot run it as service with srvany.

This is not a 16-bit app. Any other ideas??
