Hi,

Just wondering if it is possible to run a query in an Access DB at a certain time. This is so when staff arrive in the morning the information has already been updated (it takes along time to run the queries)

Does access have to be open for this? ie can you run a some windows script that will open access then run the query?

Thanks

Andrew

Access responds to events therefor it needs to be open and asked to run something in order for it to happen. Having said that it is entirly possible to automate the opening of access and have a query or report run and be ready for the morning shift.

Using any scheduling software of your choice that will handle command line actions set up that software with the command line to start access followed by the module name to start. It has been years scince I've had to do this but the command line info is available in various books and I beleive in the help screen as well.

Good luck

Also, check into the timer event.
