Question 1: How do you run a macro when a report opens?

Question 2: How do write a macro to display a message box?

The technology being used is Cognos 7.3, we are using in-built prompts since we are passing a variable into a function as opposed to a view. This was done due to poor performance of the view.

A1. With the report open, select from the menu bar 'report' and then 'macro' from the drop down list. The report properties window should open with the macro tab showing. Enter the path or browse to the relevant macro.
Note that another thread indicates that should the report be called from another program, the macro is not recursively called.
A2. Command MsgBox will display a box with an OK button. For entry of data or selection from drop down lists, look at the 'Dialog' function in either the help or documentation files of cognos script.

For some reason the MsgBox command is sending a message on the server but is not displaying it in upfront. What do we need to do differently to get it to show up in Upfront?
