Hi forum,

I have two VGA boards in my PC and How can I run my aplication(Main Menu)in one diplay and in other vga board I want only one form running some pictures and flash films. How can I do to make this distribution .There is something with threads?

Best Regards

I'm not sure, but seeing as how tomorrow is Newyears eve, I figure if I drink enough Rum I might get a dual display ;)

You could run the second form in another thread, but to put it on the second display, assuming you have windows set to use both displays as 1 desktop, you can just set the position of the form to be on the second monitor.

Windows 95 & XP support dual monitor configurations -- just go into the desktop properties, where it will allow you to configure which is your primary monitor, set resolutions, etc.

For Win2k, you usually need a driver from the card manufacturer. Since you have two separate cards, they'll probably need to be the same make/model in order for this to work.

I have dual monitors at work (NVidia Quadro) running on XP, and at home (Matrox Millenium G450 dual-head) running on Win2k, and of the two, I prefer the NVidia on XP, even though one of the monitors will freak-out occasionally.

THANKS A LOT. I'M GO TRY THAT WAY!

ThatRickGuy, I DON'T WANT YOU DRINK TO MUCH TO TELL ME IF YOU CAN SEE IN DUAL DISPLAY. I HAVE MUCH QUESTIONS IN FUTURE TO PUT YOU AND YOU MUST BE OK. LOLOLO!

It seems I didn't really answer your question --
When running in a dual monitor solution, there are two separate behaviors -- Stretched desktop, and primary/secondary monitor. Which you get depends on your OS and video card drivers.

In Stretched Desktop mode, the taskbar stretches all the way across both monitors -- your start button is on one, and the clock is on the other. You can drag windows whereever you like (even spanning the gap between displays). If your app remembers windows positions on a per-window basis, they should re-open to their original positions.

In primary/secondary monitor mode, the start button & clock are on the primary display only. The secondary display is all workspace. Again, if your app remembers it's last open position, it should reopen to the same spot.

In both cases, make sure your app doesn't position windows in "negative space" (window coordinates are signed values, so it's technically legal to do this). Some apps used to do this to hide windows from the user, but in a multi-monitor situation, they can still be visible (oops). So don't do that.

Thanks a lot chiph.

I understand your idea, I must by a Dual head display card for my PC and then I can connect two monitors.

Best Regards and good year

You may not actually need a dual-head card -- it all depends on what the video drivers will support. Sometimes the manufacturer will support two cards of the same family in the PCI slots, or one AGP and one PCI.

So, take a look at the mfrs. website or your online help for your video cards to see what they say about multiple monitor support.

if you have two videocards one for agp or pciX and one for PCi it will work but not as good as with a dualhead videocard. BTW most modern videocards are dualhead, Matrox even supports 3 Monitors. The nvidia ones have very good drivers. As far as I know each form already runs in it's own thread so that shouldn't be a problem.
