Rules in Lotus Notes R5

I just started using Lotes Notes R5 and I have troubles setting up rules. That is to say, I can set them up, but they don't work. Before Lotus Notes I used Outlook and the rules in Outlook worked perfectly. Spam got stopped, accounts were sorted in to different boxes. How come lotus notes doesn't doe that right ? Am I doing something wrong. Anybody has some suggestions ?

Are you working in an organization, or do you have Notes set up in a stand-alone environment ?

I think that Rules can only work if there is a server to execute them. If your mailbox is not on Domino, then I don't think your Rules have a chance of being executed.

At home it is a stand alone, at work it is throught a domino server. Either works with rules. Sometimes when I try to add a rule it say "type mismacth". So what am I doing wrong ?

Type mismatch error ? That is normally when you program something and try to put a value into a variable of a different type than the value.
On which setup are you getting the error ?
So, if you are getting Type Mismatch errors when setting a Rule, I would suggest that you refresh your mailbox design (File/Database/Refresh Design).

Are you sure your home Rules work correctly ?
