This is a semi-repeat post, but I still have no solution. I have an employee who created a rule, then deleted it - and gets an error every time they start outlook. It says rules in error. I was asked before what this was for - since it is the exchange 2000 board - we can safely assume it is exchange 2000.

I have uninstalled outlook on the pc and erased her profile on the pc. My only thought is to create a new person that she can copy everything to. Is there a way to setup an email account so you can add itt to your existing profile?

Try deleting and recreating her Outlook profile (Control Panel/Mail/Show Profiles) first.

If that doesn't work, then export her Exchange mail to a PST, then delete her mailbox via AD, wait for it to replicate, then delete the mailbox from System Manager. Then go back to AD and create a new mailbox for her, then move the mail from the PST back to the server.

For whatever reason I've had a lot of corrupt profiles lately and deleting/recreating has solved many problems.

I'm Certifiable, not certified.
It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.

q,

First, Microsoft has a client-side utility called CleanSweep that can work with Outlook to remove rules problems. CleanSweep is, I believe, a Back-Office Resource Kit utility. If that doesn't work, then you should try mdbvu32.exe:

Second, you asked:

Is there a way to setup an email account so you can add itt to your existing profile?

The answer is yes. If you have rights to the mailbox in question, you can add it to the Exchange Server profile on the Advanced Tab, under Mailboxes > Open these additional mailboxes:

Let us know if this wasn't what you were looking for.

The utilities look great! Unfortunatly, I downloaded the exmerge utility and it was for 2003, not 2000. I looked through the cd and did not see anything. All the utilities look good though.

At his point I created another email account and gave her permissions to it. I am having her move everything over to the other folder and then I am going to configure that account as her default.

Any ideas on where I can get these utilities. I am going to check on the server later today...maybe they are already installed there.

Thanks

Exmerge is included on the Exchange 2000 Server CD in the Support\Utils\I386\Exmerge folder.
