Hello Matt,

Linking is over dimensions per se, If you bring Customer from DP1 and Customer from DP2, BO will link over these dimensions automatically. If the first dimension is CUST and the second dimension is CUSTOMER BO will not be that smart , you will have to link them yourselve (data --> view data) There are however a couple of other rules as well. If you want objects to be displayed in one table, crosstab or chart you can bring in 1 not linked dimension, but not unlinked dimensions from both DP's. You can get a bit more air by dragging detail objects instead of dimensions. With measures you are free to choose how many and from which DP they will come. Linking over multiple DP's is something that will be done if you drag in data from different sources were no linked universe is available. Be aware of it's limitations, very often a union query can do it faster and better. If you manually unlink dimensions, be prepared... If you change one of the DP's BO will automatically relink them .....
The effect of linked DP is that they behave like a full outer join. This will work good with 2 DP's, but I have reports with 5 linked DP's that are a bit more shaky... T. Blom
