I done a search but all I came up with was thread73-306178 and I don't understand the response that was given. I've also setup rules to filter my mail. I sometimes cc myself on mails (just in case the other person doesn't respond, I'll see the mail and remember to remind them). However, it never filters the mail out to the folder I want - it just appears in my Inbox. Why is this? I tried setting up an agent but I don't have the necessary permissions. any help?

rules don't work

Hi,
To know why your rule does not work you will have to tell us what exactly did you define in your rule. Maybe there is a small mistake.
Also: if you have more then 1 rule defined you have to be very carefully how you define them. You can not have any overlap between the first condition in the rules or only one of them will work.
For example:
If you define the following 2 rules then the second one will not work:
Rule1:
If sender contains Hotmail.com AND attachment name contains .JPG then delete
Rule 2:
If sender contains Hotmail.com AND attachment name contains .GIF then delete
Altough the total condition is different, the partly overlap will make that the second rule will not work!
If I change rule 2 to the following it will work:
Rule2:
If attachment name contains .GIF and sender contains Hotmail.com then delete
Now both rules will work....
We found this out after a lot of trying!

it's a simple enough rule, it says if sender is XXX move to folder "Open Issues" where XXX is me!! I've tried chaning it to if sender contains XXX but that doesnt' work either
I've tried chaning it to XXX/Group/Server or what ever it is that notes displays when you press F9 after typing a name in a new memo but when I do it just changes it to XXX when I press Add. Any ideas?
Oh, and the folder "Open Issues" does exist
