Outlook 98
I know that you can create rules in Outlook 2000 and later to permanently delete items (rather than just move them to 'Deleted Items') but is there any way to achieve this using Outlook 98 please?
Why mess with rules for that, just set your Outlook to empty the 'Deleted Items Folder' on Exit.
Marc If 'something' 'somewhere' gives 'some' error, expect random guesses or no replies at all. Please specify details.

Thanks Marcs41 - but I would like a rule to permanently delete items sent from a particular address, only without even just moving them into Deleted Items.
no can do. Outlook is not smart enough to do what you want.
it must first recieve it, then look at the Junk Mail filter requirements, then delete it and then dump it from the deleted items.
MS has had this habit of trying to keep people from accidentally deleting stuff. that is why they still have the popup saying "are you sure? for some tasks.
if you are behind a corporate server then check with the sys admin to have him block them, but there is still a "record" of recieving the email.
another option would be to contact the sender's isp and complain that you do not want this person to continue sending you emails.
i will leave you with this final tought - anything you do on the internet or your pc leaves a trace unless extreme measures are taken.
Thanks guys - that's a shame because I know you can do this in Outlook 2000/XP/2003 via a Rule and I know that you can also manually permanently delete items in Outlook 98 using SHIFT-DELETE.
