I opened up a copy of v4.7 - dont find it anywhere under protocols in Expert Options. That doesn't mean they don't decode it but it's likely that they don't. NAI needs to get on the stick about this - both Network kInstruments and Wildpackets decode RTSP.
What some of our clients do is to add a protocol using the port # that RTSP communicates with (sorry I don't recall the port number). This will allow utilizations levels to be visible ratehr than just having the real streaming show up under "others" in the protocol distribution screens.
It also allows you to set a capture or display filter to capture just the RTSP traffic. Not sure whether there's any way to play back the trace file and have the actual streaming content visible or audible during playback but at least you can see the source and destination on the packets.
If you're having issues on the network with folks listenign to Internet radio chewing up bandwidth (we're a small company but we went through this ourselves), it's helpful to figure out who's doing it so they can be educated about the problems it causes.
RTSP Decodes are not available under SnifferPro 4.x. It is an add on to Sniffer Distributed 4.2 with the VoIP decode pack and 4.3 with a license that enables the decodes.
Correct on the Voice add-on comment. However, RTSP is not supported as part of the Voice package or in the base product of Distributed or Portable at this time.
Sniffer's web site doesnt tend to show release number info for the Voice products and the .pdf sell sheet also fails to mention this info. I suspect the only way you can find out is to call 1-800-SNIFFER and ask for sales dept.
