Got a weird problem. RTD's not working. SCCS 5.0 with SU05, and 4 sups plus SWC 4.5 SU06v1, SUS0601.
When trying to launch private or public display, it keeps loading (....) and tells me could not connect to server or there are no agents logged in. Agents are logged in.

On SCCS I checked:
1. RSM IP - set
2. mRCV.ini - matches RSM IP
3. mRCV.exe processing data
4. Multicast Streaming Control tool has RSM IP set in acceptable range
5. Set OAM value from 10000 to 40000
6. Changed TTL from 2 to 30 (just in case there were more than two hops in between)
5. Hosts file had 127.0.0.1 with SCCS server name. Took it out, saved the file and imported thru CLAN TCP/IP properties.
6. Restarted RSM, RDC and SDP services

On SWC I checked:
1. IceRTDTrace -r IPreceive - processing data
2. IceRTDTrace -r IPSend - processing data
3. Hosts file - good
4. In RTR Settings IP receive matches RSM IP from SCCS

Originally SWC had SU06 installed without SUS0601. Took SU06 off, downloaded new V1 of SU06, SUS0601 and still same thing

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Has it ever worked? If you can see the multicasting leaving the SWC server, I would look at the network. Does RTD work at the server? You also need to check your active X controls. Really need to know if it ever worked or if this is a new.

Yes it worked up until last week. IT deps says they didn't install or change anything. Multicast is leaving SWC indeed. It does NOT work on server level. Everything else works fine.

I forgot to add that I checked both DNS and WINS under CLAN and both are configured

Windows 2003 on both. Standalone
Tomorrow I'll check to see if MS05-050, 051 and 052 patches are installed. I've worked on couple on sites where those patches killed RTD's

This happened to me as well but it turned out to be that the network folks made some adjustments to the way Multicasting works. Once they made the proper adjustments everything was fine.

I got an update from Nortel saying that all the October patches, up until ms05-052 was fine to install. I'd be interested if you have any additional information about what those patches did to the sites you mentioned and what they did to resolve them.

Have you installed the Microsoft patch for Multicast? I think that it is included in SP1 for 2003 server. That could be the problem.

Is this a co-res application or two seperate servers?

Sorry for asking if it was co-res or not. I guess I don't know how to use this website. It only presented me the original thread when I clicked on it. I never saw the other threads were the question had already been asked.

I had to rebuild the SWC, but here's the kicker.

I backup the customer data (partitions, etc) and rebuilt the system. Then I tested and RTD's worked. I restored customer data and this killed RTD's. So I had to rebuld system again and manually rekey.

WEIRD!
