Hi,

I'm doing rsync of directory which contains lots of files and one tar file. All the files are getting rsynced but tar file is not getting. Is there any way out for this.

Regards,
Ranjan.

The command i'm using is :

rsync -avz -e ssh /source/dir/tar.gz foo@10.10.1.1:/dest/dir

The tar file is not changing. It gets generated everyday in different directory.

--Ranjan.

What happens when you run that command? Does it terminate immediately after doing nothing? Any error messages?

By the way, if you are just transferring that single file with that command there is no need for the -z option. There is no point trying to compress a file that is already compressed.
