I just reinstalled WinXP Pro, and a couple of minutes after windows loads i get a message that says The RPC service has unexpectedly terminated, and it gives me 45 seconds before the computer restarts. How am i supposed to stop this?

Also, bring up Task Manger and stop msblast.exe until you can remove it.

If the RPC error appears, immediately do the Start, Run, shutdown -A step again.

thanks alot. what u said worked perfectly. i appreciate it.

I don't quite understand how this is happening. I just put together a new system and installed XP Pro from a realible CD on the freshly formatted system. I connect my DSL USB modem and within a few seconds of being connected to the internet RPC initates a shutdown. I have used this same CD on my other 3 systems with out this problem. So my best guess is someone is attacking my raw load of XP. Could there be any other reason due to hardware that RPC would start a shutdown?

Impact9, do a search on this forum for blaster and you will find a great deal of information.
