Some users create text files from 2013 Excel documents that are sent to other users on a weekly basis.

Is there a method to insert the row count (from file contents) into the file name that could be taught to users who are not programmers, macro writers, etc.?

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

How are the text files created now? Is it done in Excel by 'Save As' text file and user types the name of the file? If so, nothing stops the user to check the last row of the data, let's say it is row 256 in Excel, and when they type the name of the text file, just make it 'MyTextFile_256.txt'

Or you can create a very simple macro in Excel if you have some standards of how the name of your text file should be.

Have fun.

hi,

Each user ought to have a PERSONAL.XLSB workbook that opens automatically when Excel opens.

A macro, as suggested by Andy, can be added to the PERSONAL.XLSB workbook.
