Hi ...

I don't know if this is too advanced for this group, so apologies if it is.. any ideas where would be best to post it??

I'm looking for an idiots-guide to routing. I have a PC with 2 net cards in (one ethernet & one token-ring). I need to be able to get machines on the ethernet side to talk to the rest of the network on the t-r side.

I've tried everything i can think of, but the ethernet machines can still only see other ethernet machines and the gateway.. nothing beyond. I presume it's a problem with the 'routing' box, but can't work out what.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

Chris!!!

What is your definition of "see"? I am guessing you are referring to IP routing, so are you able to ping across the router? Are you using RRAS available from MS or the standard components of NT?

How are the default gateways set up on each side? Did you enable IP Routing on the NIC interfaces? You should only configure one of the two NIC's with a default gateway.

Doug
dxd_2000@yahoo.com

To clarify...

All machines with Ethernet cards can see each other, but none of the token-ring machines, and vice-versa.
I'm only using the standard NT stuff, and setting static routes.

The gateway of the TR card is set to the usual TR gateway address. The tick is in the box on the end tab. But still it don't work!!!

Can you point out an idiot's guide???

Thanks..

Chris!!!
