Hi,

I have 6 XP Pro computers all connected via ethernet to a Dlink router.

One of the computers has a broadband connection to the internet using a USB modem and filter, the modem connects directly to this computer through USB.

I require all the computers to have internet connection through this broadband connection.

Therefore I tried the WinXP internet connection sharing, but found that when any other of the 5 computers access the internet, the computer with the direct broadband connection ran far too slow.

So, I purchased Netgears FR328 broadband router, only to find that it requires a ethernet connection for the broadband connection.

Is there any method in which I can route the USB broadband connection? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Get a router with a built-in modem. If you can't return the router that you got then get the ethernet modem.

At least with a router you get at least a NAT firewall, if you are lucky you get SPI as well.

Hi,

Take a look at the following. Not sure where you are located, but there must be an equivalent if you are outside the UK:

I know it only has 4 ethernet ports, but you should be able to use one of them as an uplink to your DLink router or other ethernet switch.
