We have a Nortel BCM50 setup and I'm new to the system.

What we are looking to do is when a caller calls staffA and staffA is either not there or unavailable, give the caller a verbal option to press a particular number and have it ring a different extension.

Can this be setup on a BCM50 or is there a better way to accomplish the same behavior?

Thanks in advance.

C.

you can give instructions in the mailbox to dial 0 or dial 7 and have it route to a specific mailbox or dial * and the 3 digit extension (ie *235 or what have you)

So what has to be done as far as any programming? I mean, I understand we'd have to re-record the VM message, but what has to be done in order to allow for each particular method?

The reason I ask is if I test it with my VM, I can press 0 and it automatically routes to our general delivery mailbox. If I press 7, as far as I can tell, it just skips the VM and beeps and sounds like it's beginning to record the message you want to leave.

Thanks,

C.
