I'm planning to config a C2948G-L3 Routing Switch for a new office and i have a question for the group. I'm using the Cisco document located here: and using the Multi-VLAN scenario. my question is this.... i understand that this config allows all vlan's and bridge groups to talk to each other but i want to restrict some clients on one vlan from a certain server group on another vlan using the routing engine and this example doesnt give me that option.
Thoughts? Assistance?

TIA

Chris

I would simply place an access list on the Vlan interface of the group you want to block. It does allow all Vlans to talk to eachother but they still need to pass through a Layer 3 device so an access list can be applied.

I have never worked with the 2948G but have set up Layer 3 switching on a Cat5500 with an RSM, and this is what I did.

Hope this has helped,

Daniel
