A phone just across the state line used to be a local call. The Phone Co. changed routing (I assume)and now dialing this number gets the recording that you must first dial a 1 or 0 to reach this number. If I dial it as long distance I get another recording saying it is not necessary to dial a 1 or 0 to reach this number. I have Meridian Opt 61C, setup as dial 9 for local and 8 plus area code for long distance. How do I program to reach this number.
The area code is 870 and the prefix is 739. I can dial other 870 area code numbers and I can dial other 7xx local numbers in that town, but not 739.
870 appears in net as npa,ac2, rli3.
739 appears in net as nxx,ac1, rli0
I can dial this number from cellphone and it works, so I know its my switch. Thank you.

First you need to verify if the 739 is a local or a LD Nxx with the phone company, I have seen where the phone company has made an error in there programing and some numbers wont work. You can also try using a phone that has a TGAR of "0" to dial the local trunk access code (not 8 or 9)and dial 739-xxxx and see if it goes though, if you get the recording again then try adding a 1 in front of 739. If you still get the recording then try 1-870-739-xxxx, if you still get the recording at this point than the problem is with the phone company. after doing this testing then I will be able to help you program your switch if it is your switch problem. but lets make sure where the problem is first.

Thank you for your offer of assistance. I checked with the CO and they say it is a local call but requires 10 digit dialing.
I changed a phone TGAR to 0 and it did not make any difference in the connection to outside lines. I still have to dial 9 or 8 to access a line. That is the only change I made, so dont know if thats what you meant.
Other phones not on my Meridian can dial this number.

I didn't mean for you to dial an 8 or 9. trunk routes have an access code to select them directly, this can only be done if the TGAR is 0. I guess you dont know the access code. I'm going to try to get you to print an NXX for me that is near the 379 that also needs 10 digit dialing. when you have that number go to
LD 90
PRT
CUST 0
NET
AC1
NXX

return
return

this will prt all your Nxx's and the RLI's that they can take, look to see if there any Nxxx's that don't use RLI 0.
RLI 0 is for local calls that use 7 digits only. we are looking for an RLI that has (INSERT 870) when you find that RLI then Change Nxx 379 to that RLI and then it should work.

All of my Nxx are RLI 0, sdrr none, itei none
All of my NPA are RLI 3.
Sorry I'm not more help....I know just enough about this to be dangerous.

You need to print out all of your RLi's

LD 86
PRT
CUST 0

Were looking for a DMI that (INSERTS 870)

If you don't have one then you need to make one.

Than make an RLI like RLI 0 only put the number of the new DMI you just made there. when you get this it should work.

Sorry I forgot that you need to change the AC1 NXX 379 to use the new RLI.

I will be out of office for a few days. Your solution sounds logical, I'll try it upon my return and I'll let you know what the results are. Thank you so much.

Found access code for trunk. Dialed the 739 number and it still will not work. Consulted other Meridian users in this area and they all have same problem. Believe it is phone co problem. Will call them. THANK YOU!

If you use a buttset directly on the phone company Demarc and you still can't dial the number as a local call, then the problem is with the phone company.
