Im routing calls to the 410 area code to our LD carrier. Problem I'm seeing is depending on the exchange some calls are completed some are not. Example
I dial
1410872xxxx and call completes

I dial

1410614xxxx and call does not complete

My ars table for this is:

Dialed string min max route pattern call type
1410 11 11 4 fnpa

Any idea on why some exchanges are not valid?
tks

Are they considered local rather than LD? What if you dial 614XXXX w/o the area code - will it go through?

Just a thought.

Thanks,

Thanks for the suggestion 98. I checked with the person I'm working with in the remote office and she said all were LD from her location.

Since this is a remote office for me I set up a vdn/vec in the remote pbx. The vdn points to a vec that has a route to number statement for the LD number I'm testing. I thought this would make it quicker for testing the numbers the local people cannot call.

And now I'n relly lost. When I use the VDN/vec to call a number that the local person cannot call I have no problem, the call goes through.

There is no restriction on the phones in that offce.

So now I'm wondering why a LD number that is dialed on the phone will not complete but when I put it in a vec that routes to that number it works. Any ideas.
thanks

I've run into almost the exact same issue in the past, we were unable to reach certain areas in Italy from one of our centers. The only real difference is that this was an international call, and instead of setting up a VDN and Vector I just used TAC codes to reach that site.

As in your case, the TAC worked...but dialing from a phone at that location didn't. When working with Sprint they indicated that the calls that worked were showing up as a "speech" call, and the ones that were not were showing up as a "voice" call.

Anyway, to get to the point... check your DS1 boards on that trunk group and see what the "DCP/Analog Bearer Capability" is set to. By default it should be 3.1kHz, but changing this to speech resolved the issue for us.

Could this be a non working number at Johns Hopkins University?

Just a thought

1a2 to ip I seen it all

You said "Does not complete, after number dialed we get dialtone". Now my question is what do you get before that dialtone? Is it 3 beeps? Becuase that is a promt for an authorization code.

Also, are you sure that there is only 1 entry in your ARS ANA table for area code 410? The reason I ask is in your initial post you included this.

Dialed string min max route pattern call type
1410 11 11 4 fnpa

But in your list trace you are using route pattern 8.

werdcrime...thanks for the suggestion, tried it but did not work.

1a2ip...it's a working number I can dial it from Houston.

phoneguy55..sorry for the mix up, I set up route pattern 8 with the area code and exchange for the number we were trying to call. I was making a bunch of hit/miss changes and did not want to interrupt people that might call the 410 area code.

On the dial tone. no 3 beeps, if we hit any key the line drops.

Might be time to call you PRI provider and open up a ticket. Wouldn't hunt for them to have a look. Could be a routing problem on their end...
