routing prints to an iSeries print queue

Am currently trying to route prints from a p570 to an iSeries server.
The prints are making it to the iSeries queue, but always as ASCII prompting a message 'this report has been created for a PC'

The printer is an IBM6400

Has anyone come across or done this particular task ?
