All,
I am setting up a system where I am getting an adapter from Packet8 then I want to connect that to router running callmanager express then have that router route my calls to the PSTN. Is that doable and what interaces ( FXO & FXS ) do I need. If this does not work what other idea would recommend

Thanks,

Ceelbuur

Are you trying to use the packet8 adaptor instead of a Cisco ATA? If not then please provide more info.

Thanks. I am using Packet8 adapter because they provide me the telephony service. I want take the cable from the Packet8 adapter and plug that into the FZO of the router. the way I want I want it to work is to call from the packet8 into the router and out the router to PSTN. I want the router to route my calls from packet8 into the PSTN.

Ah, so you you want the packet8 router to be your PSTN connection coming out of the CME router, rather than a traditional POTS line. Sorry, I missed that from your original description.

I would think a regular FXO port would do it, but not 100% sure. Seems like CME wouldn't care what's out there, as long as you get dial tone.

Thanks again. Just to make it clear what I am doing:
I have a Packet8 adapter that it gives me an RJ-11 cable that I plug that into the FXO port of my router. I then take another RJ-11 cable from the PSTN and plug it into the other FXO of the router. I want to dial my Packet8 number then have the router answer the call and give me a dial tone which allows me to dial a number on the PSTN. I want take it a little further and have 3 different lines from three different phone companies connect to my router and I want the router to send the call to one of those lines based on the prefix of the phone company. I am thinking if I can use the Auto Attandent of CME on the router to ask me what number I am trying to reach and based on the number I dial, the router will route the call to that line. Hope it is more clear now

It's clear, it just seems like a terribly bad idea (if it's even possible on CME, which I don't know). Would you just use class of restriction to prevent fraudulent use?

Thanks. But do you believe that the router can do the routing part of this setup.
