What's the difference between Routing and Remote Access service for Windows 2000 Server and IAS? I want to implement a VPN using a server in the DMZ running Remote Access Service. Will this work just fine?

Microsoft IAS (Internet Authentication Services) is designed aid authentication of the user even if they are not active directory aware, some unix boxes are RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial In User Services) which is like a universal way to authenticate.

Microsofts inplementation of RADIUS is IAS, this works with RAS to aid the authentication process. You do not need this service unles you have RADIUS clients.

I hope this helps!
