I had just installed DSL for home use and i have ATT as a provider. I also have a laptop in another room for my child and she wants fast connection ofcourse. Yesterday we went to buy router and got so confused with everything that is sold. There is something else i had to buy to get laptop working like an adapter...Please, recommend something you know works.
Thanks so much!

linksys wireless G router, and a wireless G card for the lap top... put your modem in bridge mode and put your PPoPe information in the router.. thats how i'm set up and havn't had any problems. also you may want to turn off SSID broadcast at a min for security

Disabling SSID is not a very effective Security measure. Using WPA2 enabled router and adapter is. Disabling SSID broadcast hurts you more than anyone else as it makes the possibiity of a connection more difficult. See:
For example, most wireless client software can display and connect to sites whose security is disabled SSID broadcasts. XP certainly can with its native wireless client software.

If the note book is new of close to new it should have the wireless build in so you would only need the wireless router, and linksys G's are good. I have had to replace a lot of linksys B's that you would have to reboot ever day to get to work I replaced with Linksys G's and that have been working for months with out rebooting.
