Two offices are connected via a router-to-router VPN using Netgear FVM318 routers. Clients from a remote office connected through VPN cannot log into the domain and access network resources. The VPN connection is definitely established since we can see remote computers when browsing the network but we cannot access shares on any of them. We have tried to add the DC IP address to the host file, thinking it was a DNS issue but that still did not resolve the problem. The two offices are connected via VPN and the remote side does not have a DC.
The clients are running Windows XP and the DC is Windows 2003 Server.

It's most likely a WINS issue. You should be certain that the WINS Server is installed on your Win2K3 server on your home network and that the remote clients are using your Win2K3 server for DNS and WINS in TCPIP Advanced Settings.

What kind of config did you use on the FVM318's? I am setting one up like this in the morning :)
