Hi there,
I have a SMC router that assign ip addresses dynamically to my 3 computers (starting from 192.168.2.100)
The thing is, sometimes, when I unplug my router and plug it back in, the ip of the machine changes (and that messes with my NAT port forwarding setting)
I want my machines to be always assigned the same internal ip (192.168.*.*) from the router, and this is what I tried.
Go to my network places, and local area connection -> properties -> internet protocol(tcp/ip) -> properties
then I selected *use the follwoing IP address* and entered
ip: 192.168.2.1
subnet: 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.2.1
when I apply this setting, my computer does get assigned the correct 192.168.2.1 address, but then I loose connection to the internet.
Do you have any idea what I am doing wrong?
