I bought two 2612 routers and two 2950 switches from ebay, and I reset the password, now I looked back side of router, and my brain became blank. Please let me know what I should do in a cheap way to connect two routers together for CCNA practice.
Thank you

jsseattle00,

First, for CCNA YOU REALLY are going to want to get a 26xxXM router so that you have Fast Ethernet for VLAN labs with those 2950 switches and can load a 12.4 IOS!!!

Cisco 2612 router provides a 1-network module slot platform with 1 Ethernet and 1 Token Ring fixed ports, 2 integrated WIC slots, and 1 Advanced Integration Module (AIM) slot, with performance up to 15 Kpps.

Of course you can forget about the Token Ring ports and the easiest way to connect the 2 routers would be to plug straight through cable into the Ethernet port of each router and the other end into a port on 1 of the 2950 switches.

2612-1---Switch1---2612-2

What you really want to do to learn for the CCNA is to get 2 WIC-1T's and put 1 each in the 2 2612's and connect the 2 routers with a DCE/DTE cable. Then run the Ethernet (straight through) from the Ethernet ports on the routers to a port on each switch -
Code:
PC1----Switch1---2612-1========2612-2---Switch2-----PC2
          Ethernet       Serial          Ethernet

Better yet, get a cheap 2501 router and set it as your Frame Relay Switch -

PC1----Switch1---2612-1====2501====2612-2---Switch2-----PC2

You might want to download this FREE 720 page Lab PDF, it will teach you lots of the stuff you are asking, it is "older" and uses 2500 routers but is easy enough to sub your 2600 routers and it is FREE and 700++ pages of LABS -

You will connect the Ethernet ports to the switches. Once you have the proper WIC and cables, then you will connect your routers to each other through the serial ports!

You also might want to stop in at the Cisco Cert area here at Tek-Tips!!!

Hope this helps!
