Hello all
I have two 1721 routers and on one of them after typing "router rip" in global config mode, nothing happens, meaning that the prompt remains the same (does not change to :Router(router-config)#) and the commands that should be available here don't work. Both of the routers have the same IOS version.
Thank you for your time and for any threads that coul help.

If they have the same IOS and you can do this command on one and not the other I'd check to make sure that "ip routing" is enabled first. If it is, then I would replace the IOS.

Indeed ... see here ...

dilbert#conf t
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
dilbert(config)#router rip
dilbert(config-router)#^Z

But if ip routing is disabled ..

dilbert#conf t
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
dilbert(config)#no ip routing
dilbert(config)#router rip
dilbert(config)#

Chris.
