Hi, if there are 2 computers behind a router and they visit the same site e.g. amazon, are the visits logged separately or does amazon remember the router ip address and automatically recommend items for all users who visit from that router's ip address?

Last time I went to the site, lots of ladies shoes (my flatmate had obviously been viewing ladies shoes) were selected for me to look at even though I'm a man.

In terms of weblogs it would log the single IP address but in terms of serving content, Amazon probably uses sessions and cookies or something similar that would identify machines/browsers individually. Ofc that assumes you're not logged into your account with Amazon as they reccomend based on previous purchases.

I wouldn't worry about it, I've seen Amazon have some very strange reccomendations based on what I've actually purchased before.

The server would see separate addresses unless the router is NAT'ing the addresses behind it.
