Router on company network?

I work in a small office that currently uses a wireless access point to allow laptop users to connect to our network wirelessly.
One of our managers bought a new router (Belkin N1 Vision) to replace this very old wireless access point.
I'm not very clear on the difference between a router and a wireless access point (even after researching it on the net).
Is this going to be difficult to set up?
Will we be able to plug it into a network drop and hookup?

You would use the router only if you were trying to connect two different networks together, say your internal network and the public Internet network. This does not sound like what you are trying to do. The correct technology needed would be what you originally had which was a wireless access point.

Now that being said, you might could use the Belkin router if it has bridge mode capability (not familiar enough with the SOHO products features) so that your not routing, but just passing packets from one port to another on the same subnet.
