I have a Cisco 2651. I have What's Up gold running at the untrusted layer. Almost every weekend, I will loose internet connection, especially late sunday night.
So I powercycle my switch and my firewall, I see good connection for no more than 10 second, and I am back to no connection again. Then I powercycle the router, and it works ok, seems like the router is really busy, but my ISP told me my bandwidth utilization is low. So maybe something internal on the LAN is doing it. If any of you have similar situation or have any idea how to fix or troubleshoot this, please let me know, I really don't know what else I can do.

Thanks.

Do you have any experience with configuring and troubleshoting routers? And how familiar are you with connceting to the console of hte router for configuration?

rburke, I have very little experience, my ISP setup the router for us.
I do know how to console into the router, do some simple command like show interface, set the interface up or down. What do you suggest I should do?

Thnx

Well, if you think it is a cpu utilization problem then you can use the "show proc cpu" command and it will show cpu utilization when the problem occurs. You said that you know how to do " show interface" commands... are there any errors on the Fast Ethernet or Serial (T1) interfaces? Why don't you post the output from the "show interface sx/x" where x/x is the module/slot of the T1 card. And also do "show interface fa0/x" where x are the FastEthernet interfaces that are attached to the LAN. Aso a rough description of the LAN would be helpful just to understand what is attached to what. That would be my suggestion...

On a side note. You said that your ISP setup the router, do they also support it? Most ISPs will give you a "promotional" support status when they setup the router. Do you know if they will support yours?
