I have a huge problem with my router and I hope someone can help. First off, I have a Belkin wireless G router which I have had for more than 6 months and it has always worked fine. Then, one day it just stopped working, but only for computers that connect to the internet through ethernet. The computers that accessed the internet wirelessly, everything still worked fine. I tried "restoring factory defaults" and still I have the same problem. So then I thought the router was defective, so i bought a new one and this new one does the exact same thing. The wireless network works fine but the computers connected with ethernet cords can't even ping the router. I turned off the firewall thinking maybe that was why I couldn't ping the router but still same problem even with the new router I purchased. I tried running the setup software as well that came with the router and it says to start with the PC directly connected to the internet which it was then to go through the setup wizard, I plugged in the router when the wizard said to do so and it eventually failed saying it couldn't establish a connection with the router. Although if I do this on a computer that connects wirelessly everything is just great and I can connect to the internet normally. I tried for the ethernet computers manually assigning the network addresses such as the subnewt mask, default gateway, IP address, DNS address, and still noi go. I knbow these settings are correct because I got them from the working wireless PC's. Im using a satellite connection which was again like I said working great with my router for at least 6 months and I only started having this trouble a few days ago. This is very frustrating and any help is greatly appreciated.
