Can anyone please tell me what router can support
intervlan ? can 2500 provide inter-vlan function
for Cisco 1900 switch ?

The 2621 (2 fastethernet ports) could, because you need to trunk at 100mbps.

Why do you have to use a 2621 router? Can a 2620 router with one Fast Ethernet interface be used?

Thanks for any clarification.

Lets get this a bit on track...

Yes, a 2514 can route between two VLANs on a 1900.. I know as I'm doing just that right now on my home lab. And yes, in order to trunk multiple VLANs on a single port, you need Fastethernet. And yes, A 2620 hooked to the uplink port of the 1900 and using ISL ( possibly 802.1Q) will trunk the VLANs from the 1900 to the router. The 2621 can connect the VLANs directly without using the uplink port but then a cheaper 2500 can do the same.

There are more then a few ways to do this.

Since you only have 1 ethernet port you can create 2 vlan id's on a single port also create secondary address on the router. Connect the router to the port with 2 vlan id's this will work I try it.

Unix- you can "Trunk" over the single port.. you create different VLANs and then trunck them over the uplink port via ISL which extends the IP packet with some extra info about the tagging.

see this link for all the gory details-

Feature Capability Default
Trunk ports
Supports a maximum of two trunks. The Catalyst 1900 switch supports a maximum of two Inter-Switch Link (ISL) trunks. The Catalyst 2820 switch supports both ISL and Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) LAN emulation (LANE) trunk connections and ATM permanent virtual connections (PVCs). Fast Ethernet trunk ports can be grouped using the Fast EtherChannel feature to form a single trunk.
No trunk ports are enabled.

Hope this helps clear the mud ;-)

I should also add that for VLANs on a 1900, you need to have the enterprise version of the software installed. The plain jane version will not let you configure VLANs. THe current version 9.x

Older 1900s ( larger switches) the current version 5.3x
