The problem I'm having, is that I cannot access my DSL through my router when My Win2K server is handing out the IP's but if the router hands out the IP's it work's great. But the router can only supply 32 IP's plus some other problems which is why I like the DHCP on the Win2K server.
The addresses being handed out are the same 10.0.0.x . Do I have to setup my WIN2K DHCP server to see the router and how do I do that?

Thanks in advance, this web site's great!

JBorecky,

What is probably happening is that the Win2K server is providing the wrong default gateway and DNS server addresses. When the router's DHCP server does it, the computers have the right addresses.

Need some specifics on the router and network. Do you have access to the DHCP server on Win2K? What make/model is the router? How big is your network? It's dependent on the type but you should be able to serve more than 32 addresses from the router. What other problems are you having with the router?

Thanks for your help,

I'm guessing the same thing is happening but don't have the knowledge to change it. I do have complete access to the server on the Win2K. Including DHCP. The router is a Netgear RT311. The network consists of about 15 machines. 4 hubs with a 10base2 backbone, The network however swells to about 40 machines in the winter when everyone comes home from the road. The other problem I had with the router running as the DHCP, is we have a HP Laserjet 5si MX which loses it's IP periodically unless I'm running BOOTP which the netgear doesn't support. I've read some of your threads so before you ask here's the ipconfig from the server.

Thaks again for your help.

TheOldMan346,

Thanks for your response. just before I posted last I changed the DNS addresses to my ISP, this took care of my issues. I haven't setup the DNS on the server yet but it is running. If you've got no lookups you can't very well find anything I guess.

Thanks again for helping me think through my problems.
