Router booting from ROMMON, to startup dialog, not booting startupconf

Not sure what I am doing. I didn't have the pw for the router, so I went into ROMMON mode to reset the unit. That is successful, I can get into the router and config as I like, but I believe the issue is that it now is set to load the default flash and not the nvram config file?

Can someone help me out here?

Did you set the config reg back to 2102?


router(config)# config-register 0x2102

I'm having the exact same problem on my 1721. After reseting the router it boots to the rommon prompt and attempting to have me start the inital configuration. If I hit Ctrl+C I get the router> prompt and I can even type sh conf and see my settings. But the router will not boot the config that it should.

I'm also in need of help.

type show ver and look at the end of the statement. What is your config-reg set too?

change back to 0x2102 if it is 0x2142

The configuration register was not 0x2142 after running a sh ver. I changed it back to 0x2142 by running the following command:

router(config)# config-register 0x2102


I then typed "wr mem" and reload. Everything is fine now and all is well.

You can also set the config register back to 2102 via rommon...

rommon1>confreg 2102
rommon2>reset

2500 series and older...

rommon1>o/r 0x2102
rommon2>s
