Hi,

We have two servers DHCP 192.9.3.130 and MAIL 192.9.3.252 connected to the 2620 cisco router 192.9.3.249 this cisco connects to a 1720 router via ISDN and has ip 192.168.1.253.
Okee here`s the prob if i ping on the 2620 to my MAIL server it replies but when i do this on the 1720 i get no reply. When ik do the same but ping to DHCP server it replies on both.....
What am i doing wrong ?????

grz,

Prier,
First off i have had a simmilar problem first lets look at your routing table's do a route print from your Mail server and check that 1. the default route is to your 2620 and secondly there is no route to the 192.168.1.0 network. If there is a route in your mailserver to that network it should read as follows
Network Destination Netmask Gateway
192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 192.9.3.249
Interface Metric
192.9.3.252 1
anything besides this is probably where the fowl up is. Thats step one if this doesn't correct the problem we'll look at the next step. FYI i found my problem to be that the route was stuck in the mailservers table and manually removing that route corrected the problem.

thanks that worked,

I did a "sho ip interface fastethernet 0/0" and saw that router discovery was disabled.
How can i enable this.

PRIER,
here are a few IRDP commands
Show ip irdp

(config t)
(int f0/0)
ip irdp - this will enable it on that interface.

i have about 28 routers and i don't use this on any of them. Read up on it before you turn it on. I think your thinking of CDP (cisco discovery protocol). Your asking about ICMP Router discovery protocol. Not sure what the difference is maybe someone else out there has some experience. You could also go to cisco.com ans search "irdp". Glad i could help let me now how it works for you.
