Route Patterns, Discard Digits and Route Lists

I have various route patterns that point to a route-list (as opposed to a specific gateway). The 'Discard Digits' value in the route-list is ignored when the Gateway is a route-list, if I change the Gateway to be an actual gateway that isn't assigned to a Route List the Discard Digits value in the route-pattern is NOT ignored. I see from the Route-List options that there is a Discard Digits option here.
Is this how it is supposed to work? I can see a potential problem here as I could have route-patterns where I want digits ignored and route-patterns where I don't, but both going to the same Route-List.

Have I missed something?

Thanks

Andy

Not sure what you have going on. All my Gateways are in Route Lists and the RP's discard digit instructions work fine. How do you have the Discard Digits set up in your Route List?? What do you RP's look like?

I have purely a test environment. I have a MGCP router with an VIC-2FXO interface with each port connected to a PSTN line. Port 1 is part of a route-list and port 2 isn't. I can therefore select either gateway in the Route-Pattern config. If I select the Route-List I have configured as the gateway the Discard Digits I have configured on the route-pattern (in my case PreDot) is ignored and all digits are sent to the route-list. If I select the other gateway the discard digits is NOT ignored.
In the route list there is an option for Discard Digits, it seems to use this and not the one configured in the RP.

As I said this means I can't have selective Route Patterns - some with Discard Digits others without?

I think I have worked out the issue and it is down to the United Kingdom numbering plan. There is no 'none' option for the discard digits with the United Kingdom numbering plan version 1.1(3). In the Route List Detain Configuration for the Route Group if I select the UK Dial Plan there is then no 'none' option available in Discard Digits. The help say something along the lines of all Discard Digits options except 'none' will override the Route Patterns Discard Digits settings. If I select the NANP then I can select 'none' and all works fine.

Is this a problem with the UK Numbering Plan or is just a feature?

Thanks

Andy

Sorry I haven't worked with the UK numbering plan. I don't have an answer to that.
