I'm attempting to get our exchange 2003 server (where all of our mailboxes sit at the moment) to route outbound email through our to-be exchange 2010 box.
After installing exchange 2010 it created the routing group connector on it's own and it works fine sending mail between the test email boxes on the e2010 box and the production mailboxes on the e2003.
However, when I set my default smtp connector to use the smarthost e2010 box, nothing leaves. The queue says a email loop has been detected and the email quickly produces an NDR. I'm sure it's something simple I'm missing here...
The test email boxes on the e2010 machine can send internet bound email just fine. it's just the messages from the e2003 box that are internet bound that produce an issue. What connector do I need to setup on the e2003 machine so it uses the e2010 box as a relay?
I've also setup the appropriate receive connector on the e2010 machine and it accepts the messages from our e2003 machine just fine..
