Hello
I have a windows 2000 server with two persistant routes set to one subnet through two different gateways (Proxy Servers) and each route has a different metric.
On shutting down the Proxy Server with the lowest metric I noticed that the server failed to try the second route (i.e. all ping packets lost and could not connect at the application level.)
If I perform a tracert it shows that the backup route is not used.
I made a change and made the two routes equal both with a metric = 1 with the gateways being the only difference. I did this as I read that such a set up would then invoke the "Dead Gateway detection" feature. and should work.
Problem is it isnt.
Can anyone provide any troubleshooting tips, is "Dead Gateway detection" enabled by default or do I have to se this up.
Appreciate any assistance
Thanks
