This is related to a previous post, but it got off topic from the original question, so I'm starting a new thread.

I need to set up a group of 6 univeral trunks to dial a set up 6 modem like devices that will answer on ring, they will only be called from internal extensions.

I tried to duplicate the setup for our paging system, but I think I'm missing a step, plus it only uses a single port rather than a rotary.

Can someone give me a list of what I need to set up to do this? I know there's an RDB involved, but I don't understand how to relate that to the set of trunks.

Thanks

i see no advantage to putting modems on a cot.. they need to be installed on a analog line card and stations, with cls=hta and hunt=to the next dn...

This is a follow up to my previous thread where I need disconnect supervision to make the remote devices drop the line immediately in disconnect.

You were helping me, but I think I missed a step and you lost me after I set up the RDB.

I've been reading the manuals on and off for the past couple of weeks and I basically got as far as creating the RDB (I'll post it when I get back on site) and created an ACD for the number.

I was reading some more today and I think I need to create a trunk group and get the ACD to route to that, but when I try to set the ACDN in my trunk group it tells me it doesn't exist. But when I try to create an ACD to use the ACOD of the RDB, it won't let me do that either, it tell me it conflicts with the existing numbering plan.

I just need someone to give me the high level outline of WTF I need to do to get this to work, i.e. create an RDB, a TG and an ACD and relate them all with whatever the hell you relate them with. I'm happy to do the reading myself, but these manuals are laid out so you have to already know what you're looking for in order to find it. If it wasn't for this forum, I don't think I'd ever figure out where anything in them is.

i've never hooked up a modem to a trunk, seems like a waste of time, with the proper at command string the modem will disco on an analog port in a mater of seconds.. to route a number to a rdb...
ld 8
new
0
rlb
x (unused route lest block)
0 For entry number
frl 1 (for all stations to be abel to access)
rdb= x your new route number

then in load 87
new
0
cdp
dsc
xxxx the new pilot number (vacant number only)
rli= to the new rlb you just made..

then when i dial the dsc of xxxx, it will route me to the new rdb.... if the switch let you put members in the route you got enough of it right to work...

It's not really a modem and I don't have control of the device. It is a Rauland-Borg module that answers the phone on ring, listens for DTMF to route the call to an intercom in a patient room, then hangs up when the call ends.

Unfortunately, the only thing it understands to end the call is disconnect supervision (which the analog lines don't provide) or 20 seconds of silence. The 20 seconds of silence ties up 12 rooms for that amount of time because there can only be one intercom call per bus loop and each wing of 12 rooms is serviced by a single loop.

It just seemed easier to say it was a modem answering the call than explain all the above, which isn't really germaine to the problem. I've never hooked a T1 to a Metro Call server, seems like a waste of time to me, but sometimes you just have to play the hand you're dealt, as you know you're not always in control of all parts of the system and just have make your part work.

In the meantime, I will definitely read the chapters on RLB and CDB in those overlays and set them up as you suggest. Thank you very, very much for your help, I'll let you know what happens.
