The best way to do this is quite long winded but please stay with me. I use AutoCAD 2000/2002 so if you're using an earlier version, the commands might be a bit different, so I'll use the long winded command line and menus to do the job..
1: Set up a view in model space that mimics the rotation. To do this, rotate the UCS around the Z axis to the angle that you want the rotation to be at. I assume that your talking about a 2D drawing, if not it's a whole different kettle of fish.
2: Once this is done, enter plan on the command line and press enter. Press enter again to confirm that you'll be using the current UCS - this rotates the view and not the object.
3: Save this view using the view command. Click New and name the view to whatever you like. Then ok it to save the view. You can now revert back to the original view by going through the View >> 3D Views >> Top menu or by setting the UCS to world and using the plan command again.
4: Still awake? Now in paper space, create a viewport on the layout. You can create it on a new layer, which you can freeze or set to not plot, so it won't appear on the print out. Then go into the model space part of paper space (where you can zoom and pan etc inside the viewport itself). Then, once inside the viewport, use the view command again and select the saved view. Viola! Now the viewport assume the new view and the object appears to be rotated but without affecting the actual entity in model space..
Now you can wake up!! Hope it helps - let me know if you get it done or get a bit stuck..
thanks for the help!! I used the command "mvsetup" that I just learned to rotate it. It seams to work very well. But I am going to save what you said it will defently come in handy down the line . Thank again!! KatKar
