Is there a way to recover a root password....the administrator who had it is no longer with the company...what other options do we have??

Make sure you have the AIX install media. Put the first CD in the drive and boot it in the maintanance mode. Mount the file system. Change the root password, take out the cd from the drive and boot it back in the multiuser mode.
